Dante Alighieri Evening Social 2008

Saturday, 2 February, the Dante Alighieri Society of Edmonton celebrated the 47th anniversary of its foundation at the Italian Cutlural Centre. There were more than 400 people in attendance, not including various guests of honour, which included Dott. Arnaldo Minuti,  Thomas Lukaszuk (Conservative MLA for Edmonton-Castledowns), Bill Bonko (Liberal MLA for Edmonton-Decore). All expressed their appreciation for the work carried out by the Dante Alighieri Society in these 47 years of its existence in Edmonton—work that underlines his great commitment to preserving and promoting Italian language and culture. The success of the Dante Alighieri Society is the result of a great commitment and seriousness on the part of many people who have dedicated, and who continue to dedicate, much of their time to such noble and high objectives. I and my staff at the Dante Alighieri Edmonton Committee applaud these deserving individuals and offer our heartfelt thanks for their invaluable support to our Society.

In this regard, the Dante Alighieri Society wishes to acknowledge Mr. Angelo Biasutto, one of the first to join our Board of Governors, for his constant and valuable commitment to the Italian community and to the Dante Alighieri Society.

The evening was highlighted by performances by Appenini Dancers and Tenor Power. Succulent dishes served with care by staff of the Centre were interspersed with speeches and entertainment.
